I'm watching too much anime right now. But then again, this season did draw me to more slice of life than previous ones, I think.
Apparently, which is most likely true, there were originally a lot of fantasy elements that went into the planning of this, but as you can see (if you've seen him), the bird was the only one that made it. This is pretty good otherwise, though the bird was the only thing that even made the first episode interesting, imo.

Yeah, you are right. I did check this anime out earlier in the season, and I think it fits the bill well enough to be added.
Like you mentioned, it does have a talking parrot, but hey, Amnesia has a floating fairy that only the heroine can see
